Outstandingly Different – It’s all celebrations at The Shelley
The Shelley has a lot to celebrate. This December is our 10th year anniversary and with celebrations already in place we were delighted to hear that at the ‘West Sussex Care Accolades’ our manager, Nada Wakeford, had been awarded Care Manager of The Year 2015, and Julie Shepherd received Ancillary Staff of The Year runners up award.
However, nothing could stop residents, relatives and staff celebrating in style with lots of bubbly, tears and laughter when we were told on Friday that The Shelley had been awarded the rating of “OUTSTANDING” after its recent inspection. This means that The Shelley is the first care home in Worthing to receive this coveted rating and one of only two so far in West Sussex. To date only a very small handful of homes have now received this rating nationally. Congratulations quickly followed from delighted relatives, suppliers and health professionals.
” All your hard work has paid off” ” So very happy for you it’s what you deserve”. However, a poem by John Balston one of our residents, sums it all up.
We could not have achieved these outstanding results without the dedication and hard work from every single member of our outstanding team who truly know our residents, genuinely care and always go that extra mile to ensure that the little things that matter indeed make a huge difference and add The Shelley sparkle.
By John Balston (resident):
Sensational Shelley has won an award
For being of the best,
It’s not just us who say so
It’s been put to the test.
Marlene’s on the champers
And dancing in the street
Hope brother doesn’t hear of it
From some copper on the beat.
The inspectors came and looked around
For the best part of a day,
Then without a nod or wink
Slipped silently away.
The suspense that day was awful
Anxiety running free
Everyone was wondering
What would the verdict be?
And when the Christmas lights go up
From upstairs on the landing
You will see they simply say,
A single word “Outstanding” .
