There is always something happening at The Shelley… The Shelley was visited by Reptylers who brought in a selection of fascinating animals to look at. The residents’ initial wariness of snakes, lizards, chameleons, bearded dragons turned to genuine joy as they all got to overcome their fears and get up close to these fascinating creatures. A little flavour of France came wafting over the Chanel with our French Accordion evening. Fantastique! We have all styles of music at The Shelley – folk musicians, 1930’s troubadours, opera singers, rat pack loungers and choirs are just some of the performers we have had [...]

Anybody who knows us knows that our spectacular decorations are second to none and rest assured, plans are underway to make this year the most outstanding. Watch this space!
Halloween at The Shelley Just look at some of the residents pumpkin carvings as we join in with the Halloween spirit (or is it spirits?). Spooky, creepy and just a little fun. The Shelley has unusually grown some cobwebs and a few spiders invaded. Their is even a skeleton in the hallway of all places!!. A number of very brave residents are waiting up for some of the fancy dressed local adolescents to pop in with their feeble demands for treats. We are prepared with our plentiful sweets and Marlene is at the door. They will soon be on their way. [...]

Food Hygiene Inspection 5* On the day we were heading out to Arundel for the West Sussex Accolades, we had an unannounced food inspection by the Food Standards Agency. The inspector was left in the capable hands of our wonderful chefs Simon and Jo. We were delighted to hear upon our jubilant return (see West Sussex Accolades Awards) that once again, we will proudly be displaying our ‘5*’ rating on the front door. A huge thanks goes out to our fantastic and hard working kitchen team, Simon, Jo, Celestino, Lukas and Oraya.

This was followed by presentations from local sponsors. We had been shortlisted for both Care Home Manager Of The Year and Ancillary Worker Award. Ancillary Worker Award – Julie was delighted to receive the runner-up [...]
